Our values emphasize approaching the classics through a variety of interdisciplinary methods. Whether its digital humanities or traditional textual analysis, all forms of research are welcome at The Agora.
The Agora is a discussion-first presentation. We aim to connect high school classicists to an international network of like-minded peers, facilitate discussion, and provide researchers with the opportunity to receive constructive criticism.
The motive
Art is not simply paint on a canvas. It is the application of the creative mind. The skills required to think imaginatively come partly from genuine curiosity and partly from traditional fine arts education, but also equally from being mindful of history and the origins of traditional culture. For the modern man, that origin is Ancient Rome and Greece, and the classical humanitas.
Ancient Rome and Greece are the direct ancestors of many modern inventions, governments, Western languages, and most importantly, traditional art. The Renaissance, the Neoclassical period, and the Romantic era all candidly call back to the classical age. Thus, studying the culture, history, and language of Ancient Rome and Greece is studying art.
An important part of learning is learning how to read, write, and think critically. Research and paper writing do that. UnboundEd Art thus incorporates The Agora as a critical component of its education program.
